Africa Fellows in Education Program (AFEP) 2026/2027

Young researchers across Sub-Saharan Africa are invited to apply for the Africa Fellows in Education Program (AFEP) 2026/2027—a fully funded, two-year fellowship aimed at developing the next generation of education policy leaders.Education

The program offers a $25,000 research grant, along with up to $25,000 in additional support for mentorship, travel, workshops, and participation in leading international conferences on the economics of education. Fellows will also receive specialized training in evaluation methods, performance measurement, and communication, alongside mentorship from Stanford University and top African institutions.

AFEP targets early-career African researchers aged 35 or below who hold a Master’s or PhD in a relevant field with strong quantitative skills. Applicants must demonstrate experience in data analysis, a clear interest in education policy research, and must be affiliated with a government, research, or higher education institution. Proficiency in English is required, and qualified female candidates are strongly encouraged to apply.

The fellowship combines in-country research activities with regional and international training opportunities. Fellows will design and implement a research or evaluation project in their home country under expert supervision, while benefiting from a global network of researchers and policy advisors.

Applications require a two-page statement of interest, a two-page essay addressing an educational challenge in the applicant’s country, and a detailed CV, to be submitted via the PEP intranet system.

The application deadline is June 30, 2026 (23:59 GMT).
