Information Management Officer at INTERSOS Nigeria

Project Background / General Context
Following more than a decade of conflict in North-East Nigeria—particularly in Borno, Adamawa, and Yobe (BAY States)—as well as parts of the North-West, the humanitarian situation remains critical.
According to the Humanitarian Needs Overview (2023):
About 8.3 million people require humanitarian and protection assistance
Over 2 million individuals are internally displaced due to ongoing violence
Food insecurity and malnutrition are worsening due to inflation, poverty, and insecurity
Gender-Based Violence (GBV) remains a major protection concern, especially for women and girls in IDP camps
Critical infrastructure such as healthcare facilities and water systems have been severely damaged
Disease outbreaks like cholera—often linked to flooding and overcrowded conditions—continue to pose serious risks
